About Ms. Jake

Hello! I’m glad to be here and I’m excited about the new school year.

I have taught at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, the Art Institute of Tucson and in the magnet program at Tucson Unified School District.

Before I moved to Tucson to work as a college professor, I worked in Los Angeles as a television producer. In fact, one of the shows I worked on won an Emmy!

I consider myself both a technician and an artist. I am critical of the control mass media has in our society and, as a result, I always teach students the importance of media literacy.

Since moving to Tucson, I have created media for the State of Ohio Department of Youth Services, the State of Kentucky Children’s Law Center, PAXIS Institute, My Dream Home, Tucson Fashion Week, Arizona International Film Festival, Tucson Humane Society, and Roadhouse Cinemas.

My students have gone on to create their own video production houses; they work as producers and cinematographers in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Berlin; and they’ve won national and regional awards for their independent film and video projects.

You can find samples of my work at EverythingsJake.TV

Jorgiana is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, as well as the Producers Guild of America and the International Documentary Association.
